Job description
We are looking for a Laboratory Scientist to join the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neuroscience (NDCN). Reporting to the Technical Director, Quality Manager or Laboratory Director, the post holder is a member of Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Diagnostic Laboratory. They will lead their own panel of tests and support research into the development of new tests. The post holder will support the laboratory manager in maintaining the smooth running of the laboratory management and administration. They will adhere to strict standard operating procedures and health and safety and quality protocols in accordance with UKAS standards. The post holder will provide advice and guidance to new team members/ research students where appropriate.
Your duties will include managing own laboratory and administrative activities; lead on running a panel of diagnostic assays; contributing to scientific research and select, follow and adapt experimental protocols.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree (for example Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Immunology, or Microbiology); have experience working in a laboratory environment; and have experience of following and adapting protocols and selecting appropriate experimental methodologies to support protocol modification. Experience of contributing to reports for publication and of working in an ISO15189 accredited lab is desirable, along with being a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist/
The post is full-time, fixed-term until 31st July 2025 in the first instance.
