Newmarket Biomedical Ltd are a British company specialising in the worldwide manufacture, sale and distribution of quality in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents and test kits.
We were established in 2011 by a group of innovative, experienced individuals with a goal to providing high quality diagnostic kits to all areas of the scientific industry. What will you be doing?
Joining the production team as a Laboratory Scientist you will be focused on the production and quality control of reagents used in our Syphilis diagnostic and screening test kits. You will be part of a busy production laboratory, not only manufacturing and assessing compliance to release specifications, but maintaining the laboratory and carrying out the day to day activities required to keep the department functioning. Shared laboratory and general duties will be required.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Basic buffer preparation.
- Reagent production including Rapid Plasma Reagin, antigen coated red cells, diluent and reagent controls.
- Quality Control – manual and automated quality control testing of in-process assay reagents and kits.
- Controlled document review and change control as required.
- Undertaking any training the company may require.
- Work to GMP/GLP/GDP/maintain training record.
- General laboratory duties – pH testing, bioburden, washing up and laboratory cleaning.
- Travel to external suppliers may be required occasionally.
- Tasks to assist other members of staff
The work you’ll do is critical to the whole production process from start to finish.
You’ll build effective working relationships with your colleagues in the laboratory, who are relying on your high levels of attention to detail and communication.
What do you need?
It’s essential that you have a scientific background or A Level qualification (or equivalent); you’ll also be a reliable and professional individual with experience of working to deadlines. Graduates are desirable for this role as well as enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
You’ll need to be comfortable with manual lifting and be able to work within a defined method and record information accurately. This means you’ll need focus and a strong attention to detail. Successful candidates will enjoy working independently as well as working within a larger team.
You should thrive in a time critical role, be self-motivated and able to work in an organised manner ensuring all work is undertaken as specified by our methods and procedures in accordance with ISO 13485.

Salary: £23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
