In RSSL we are customer focused, science led and results driven. The RSSL Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory performs a wide range of analytical analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and supports Mondelez research and innovation.
The role is required and designed to allow laboratory analysts to perform their testing efficiently, effectively, and safely. The laboratory steward maintains the availability of items necessary for laboratory analysts to perform their work. This is in addition to responsibilities outlined in INF-119 for Pharmaceutical Chemistry equipment and laboratory responsibilities.
Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Perform dishwasher duties on glassware from all Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratories, ensuring an even distribution of glassware among the various laboratories.
Maintain stocks of consumables within the Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratories, like : Various pipette tips, Tissues and paper rolls, Laboratory gloves of various sizes, Cleaning wipes, Vials of various sizes (glass and plastic), Glass Pasteur pipettes, Printing paper
Removal of full glass bins in all Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratories and replacement with new glass bins.
Ensure the waste solvent fume hood contains a non-halogenated and halogenated solvent container.
General laboratory cleanliness, including but not exclusively windowsills, balance area, and sinks.
Perform the daily balance checks on those balances that have not been checked by analysts in the morning work pattern.
Calibrate the pH meter daily.
Work as part of an efficient analytical team
Knowledge: including education, qualifications and training
Studying towards a science degree (with a component of chemistry / pharmaceutical science or analytical chemistry) with proven academic record including A-level (or equivalent) in chemistry.
Accountable, honest, hardworking and able to work efficiently in a team
Flexible and adaptable to meet customer/business requirements in an efficient manner whilst under time pressure
Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn.
Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
Computer literate in standard MS office applications
Open to acquiring new skills and able to demonstrate strong analytical, communication and presentation abilities
English fluency (written and spoken)
