Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in custom built laboratories within the Reschem Analytical Limited of Smithers. Based in Derby we are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant within the Specimen Preparation team.
You will be working within a small team supporting a wide range of tests. Training will be given in all aspects of the role which include: set-up and maintenance of laboratory equipment, general laboratory and housekeeping duties. Responsibilities of your role may vary dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.
Tests are designed to help evaluate the potential risks of new and existing substances to the environment resulting from the manufacture and use of pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals and agrochemicals.
Qualifications and Experience
Ideally have laboratory experience or educated to GCSE, A-level or equivalent in chemistry or a related scientific subject.
Interested applicants should have good IT skills, be well-organised, enthusiastic and demonstrate a hands-on approach to work with an ability to use their initiative and apply knowledge. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of specimen preparation tasks based on the study protocol, SOPs and method
- Produces and maintains data in compliance with regulatory requirements for review by Study Directors or Supervisor.
- Reviews own work for overall accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
- Informs the Study Director and other appropriate personnel of any unforeseen circumstances that may affect the integrity of the study.
- Participates in team meetings.
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on relevant laboratory equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
- Performs other such reasonable related duties as assigned..
