The Faculty’s Department of Chemical Engineering requires a skilled, adaptable and self-motivated Laboratory Assistant to provide logistical and technical support across a diverse suite of laboratories and working spaces.
You will assist the Technical Team with the day-to-day operation, organisation and maintenance of a wide range of equipment and laboratory facilities. In addition, you will assist with the management of gases, chemicals, health and safety and hazardous waste within the department and wider faculty. You will also provide general technical and housekeeping support across the department and faculty. The team also support the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and the supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate project students.
Part-time or other flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

About you:
You will have a passion for helping others, working in a higher education environment and supporting ground-breaking research. You should ideally have a strong interest in working in a science and/or engineering based environment and must have excellent organisational skills.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- Able to demonstrate practical ability and manual dexterity
- Able to efficiently work alone with minimal supervision, as well as in a team
- Aware of basic Health and Safety protocols and experienced with safe working practices
- A strong communicator, able to work with a broad range of individuals
Previous experience of having worked in a laboratory would be advantageous.
