Please note this is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 09:00 till 17:00 whilst training. Shifts when fully trained will be 8 hours between 07:00 - 23:00, so flexibility is essential.
Due to the growth of our business in the UK, we have exciting opportunity for a laboratory assistant to be part of our growing laboratory team based in Milton Keynes. The role will involve receiving, preparing and analysing samples for analytical testing.
Main responsibilities to include:
- Sample reception and organising sample delivery
- Operating automated and semi-automated laboratory procedures on various instruments, including Tecan and Hamilton
- You will perform the entry quality control checks of incoming samples
- Work with the Team Leader to achieve daily targets, ensuring client turnaround time is met and seeking advice as required.
- Performing regular laboratory housekeeping duties and consumables replenishment.
- Work with the team on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report any anomalies or concerns direct to the Team Leader.
- Other laboratory duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality system in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents.
- Experience of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
- Educated to GCSE level.
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology and first hands on molecular biological experience will be an advantage.
- Eagerness to learn new skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
- High sense of quality, flexibility, team spirit, as well as an independent and reliable way of working.
- Flexibility and willingness for shift work.
