Please note this is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to 17:00 whilst training. Shifts when fully trained will be 8 hours between 07:00 and 23:00, so flexibility is essential.
Due to the growth of our business in the UK, we have exciting opportunities for laboratory assistants to be part of our growing laboratory team based in Milton Keynes. The role will involve receiving, preparing and analysing samples for analytical testing.
Main responsibilities to include:
- Sample reception and organising sample delivery
- Operating automated and semi-automated laboratory procedures on various instruments, including Tecan and Hamilton
- You will perform the entry quality control checks of incoming samples
- Work with the Team Leader to achieve daily targets, ensuring client turnaround time is met and seeking advice as required.
- Performing regular laboratory housekeeping duties and consumables replenishment.
- Work with the team on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report any anomalies or concerns direct to the Team Leader.
- Ensure customer contact is conducted in a professional manner and any queries are dealt with or notified to your line leader.
- Uphold and maintain customer and company confidentiality.
- Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality system in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents.
- Educated to GCSE level.
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology and first hands on molecular biological experience will be an advantage.
- Eager to learn.
- You enjoy operating robots and modern lab equipment.
- Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
- You will bring in your high sense of quality, flexibility, team spirit as well as your independent and very reliable way of working.
- Your flexibility and willingness for shift work.
