Core Hours: 08:00-16:35 (Mon Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri)
Vacancy Type: Full-time & Permanent
Salary: £26,000 with potential for career and salary progression
JOB SUMMARY
The Laboratory and Range Officer will carry out destructive and non-destructive testing on new and existing product lines against various national, international, and contractual test specifications in impartial and confidential manner in accordance with the requirements of the Laboratory Management System and ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

JOB DUTIES
Typical Job Accountabilities, include but are not limited to.
- To assume responsibility for the safety of themselves and others whilst complying with company policies to fulfil test requirements.
- Carryout development and production testing as advised by the Laboratory Technical Coordinator within the laboratory and ballistic range.
- Compile accurate reports on product conformity with regards to equipment, method specifications, inspection, test methodologies and tolerances etc. systematic, impartial, confidential, and timely reporting of test results to appropriate internal customers.
- Work within the bounds of the Laboratory Management System.
- Have an awareness and general understanding of the implications that measurement uncertainty has on quoted calibration test results.
- Maintain general Laboratory housekeeping.
- Systematically carrying out Laboratory start-up and maintenance checks.
- Responsible for ammunition, primers, barrels and gunpowder.
- Host internal and external customers requesting witness testing.
- Adherence to the Laboratory Code of Conduct.
- Test report signatory based on agreed decision rules.
- Support the Laboratory contract review process.
Critical outputs and achievement required.
- Maintenance of the BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation.
- Continual improvement of the Laboratory Management System.

EXPERIENCE
- Relevant job experience
- Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Basic user of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- General understanding of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and experience of working within an accredited facility.
- Working knowledge of current Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
