The Quality Assurance Department at the GSK Ware Manufacturing site is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the manufacture of products is performed in a controlled manner and meets commitments to international regulatory bodies (as well as the requirements of current Good Manufacturing Practice).
The laboratory teams work as part of the Site Value Streams to ensure that manufactured products are compliant and fit for purpose. This includes product analysis, laboratory investigations, method optimisation and trend analysis of analytical results.
We currently have a vacancy for a Laboratory Analytical Specialist to support the Micronised Substance laboratory for the Ware site.
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Laboratory Analytical Specialist is to be the sole point of contact for complex new product, new equipment and pharmacopoeial activities for finished products for the respiratory value stream at the site. You will work closely with R&D and other manufacturing sites on method optimisation, method transfer and equipment validation to implement capability (for release and stability). You will also provide analytical trouble-shooting for new and legacy methods and equipment (building) capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage transfer activities for the laboratory (transfer in and transfer out) and act as key point of contact for R&D.
- Work across other sites to assist in trouble-shooting and setting, maintaining and improving analytical standards (including leading transfer activities across GSK/inter-country analytical testing level).
- Ensure safety and quality-compliance are maintained.
- Continuously improve work areas to achieve site targets.
- Develop lab staff (so they are challenged) and ensure healthy succession plan is in place.
- Implement new technologies and equipment to enable testing to be performed with limited data variability results.
- Front external audits and be point of contact for suppliers of new technology and equipment.
About You:
This role would suit a driven and motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a GMP (Quality) environment. People skills and a proven ability to work in a team (eg; flexible approach, good communication, planning and organizational skills) are required. You should have knowledge/experience of chemical laboratory testing techniques (within a GMP environment). You will also have a strong continuous improvement growth mindset and a willingness to work towards standardised and lean working practices.
PLEASE NOTE: We are ideally looking for people who have Particle Size analysis experience, Method-Transfer experience and Change-Control experience.
About Ware Manufacturing Site:
Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products.

Basic Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications and / or experience (eg; relevant Scientific degree)
- Good understanding of laboratory methodologies (eg; Particle Size analysis, Method Transfer experience, Method validation).
- Competence in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
