JOB TITLE: Medical Laboratory Assistant (Histology)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Specimen Reception Manager
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Histology Services Manager
LOCATION: Based at 24-32 Stephenson Way
HOURS: 37.5 hours a week, working one Saturday and Sunday a month with an alternative day off in the week.
JOB SUMMARY: To be of assistance to all histology staff and assist in the smooth running of the laboratory with particular reference to the cut up room
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Under supervision of Head MLA & BMS)
- Sorting and booking in specimens in cut up
- Assisting at cut up where necessary
- Reagent change and daily maintenance of processors and embedding machines
- Make up solutions as necessary
- Preparation of stock transport boxes for delivery
- Carry out chuck out
- Ensure Cut up room is clean
- Carry out any other tasks deemed necessary to the department.
- To rotate into the main laboratory on a regular basis and assist in the routine duties
- To help with NHS work if required
OTHER DUTIES:
Assist the couriers if necessary
Participate in an annual joint staff review

Experience:
