Duties
-take samples and run them, separate tiers cross compare lab results
-some onsite sample collection
-sample registration and labelling
- carry out preparation and testing on soil samples according to standard BSI test methods
- perform routine QA/QC testing in accordance with SOPs using analytical equipment as required.
-recording and processing accurately the test data produced from analysis.
-maintaining a neat and orderly laboratory environment with good laboratory practices (GLP) at all times
-mitigation of errors, corrective and preventive actions
-order, restock and maintain inventory of laboratory chemicals and consumables
-prepare, send and track samples for external testing and analysis
-work with UKAS ISO 17025 accredited standards
- potential requirement to drive and carry our soil samples
Person specification
- ideal for a practical minded graduate with laboratory experience or environmental laboratory technician with a minimum 2 years' experience
-environmental science degree, or science A Levels would be an advantage
- organised and methodical
- team player, but able to confidently work alone
-strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills
- must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks with high attention to detail
- highly organised with excellent time management skills
-must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and sample containers weighing up to 20kg and able to stand for short or long periods in the laboratory.
-experience working in a UKAS accredited lab extremely desirable
-proactive towards work and a diligent attitude is essential
- able to create a nice presentation of sample results
Job is part time initially with the possibility of more hours. Can be flexible with start and finish times but presence required at lab Mon-Fri. Salary dependant on experience and will be pro rata.

Salary: £21,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
