London Southbank University is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual to is to provide technical support for the Elephant Studios@LSBU, supporting the busy kitroom operations as well as with a range of studio-based activities, predominantly in the film area. Key responsibilities include carrying out day-to-day operations, maintenance, and booking and preparation of specialist equipment and studio spaces to students and staff, for classes and projects.
It is expected that the post holder will have a grounded understanding and practical knowledge a range of production equipment, (film, photography, and sound) and will be keen to broaden their knowledge, understanding and experience of related disciplines.
About you
You will be friendly and approachable, with a positive and ‘can do’ attitude to work. You will be well organised and self-motivated with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will be tech savvy; You will have experience supporting customers in a technical support or training capacity and a practical understanding of Health & Safety in relation to the designated technical area.
Exciting work you will do
You will be working as part of a team of professional technicians who support all courses in the school of Arts and Creative Industries, including Film and Television Practice, Photography and Imaging, Media Production, Game Development, Fashion, Journalism, Sound Design and Drama and Performance.
You will work closely with academic colleagues and students on those courses, supporting classes, projects, and student events such as exhibitions and degree shows.
You will be supporting research projects and contributing to the development of courses by researching and advising on equipment and technologies in relevant curriculum areas.
The skills and experience you will need to be successful
You will have excellent inter-personal, communication skills in order to foster good and effective working relationships with colleagues and students.
You will possess good practical knowledge of a range of professional equipment related to a creative discipline, preferably film and cinematography, location sound is desirable and/or the willingness to develop your skills in this curriculum area. Pro-rental experience is highly desirable.
You will work well without direct supervision and will be able to demonstrate good self-organisation, particularly at times of high activity. You should be flexible, adaptable and able to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills in supporting staff, students, and external clients in the use of the designated areas.
Details about the role
This role is a permanent and full time post, 35 hours a week.
This role is campus based.
