Position: Kitchen Porter

Department: Catering and Hospitality

Salary & Hours: Competitive salary (DOE) plus excellent staff benefits. Permanent, full-time (46 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days per week)

Locations: Tynecastle Park Stadium & Myreside Pavilion

Start Date: As soon as possible

Heart of Midlothian is a Scottish Premiership Football Club and an Edinburgh institution. However, it is more than just a Football Club. The Club have a proud heritage dating back to 1874. The remarkable transformation of facilities within the Club’s redeveloped stadium has changed the landscape of conferences and events in Edinburgh and has put Tynecastle Park Stadium firmly on the map as the venue of choice for major conferences, exhibitions, and formal dinners as well as private events, weddings, Christmas parties and smaller family occasions. The Skyline Restaurant has most recently been recognized by TripAdvisor as a 2022 Travelers’ Choice.

In the last year, the Club has also established its highly successful restaurant “The Skyline”. This 100-cover restaurant has become a key part of the business and continues to flourish. Currently the Skyline Restaurant, The Executive Lounge, Supporters Bar facilities and Myreside Pavilion have received excellent reviews from guests whilst maintaining a high standard of customer service.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a full time Kitchen Porter to support our Kitchen team. The successful candidate will thrive in a busy kitchen environment and work well under pressure as part of a team. Duties will include running a dishwasher and maintaining a clean kitchen, assisting chefs with food preparation as required and closing the kitchen at the end of shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning to an exceptionally high standard around the kitchen
  • Collect and wash up pots and pans
  • Clean food preparation areas and equipment, in addition to crockery and cutlery
  • Keep the storeroom organised
  • Keep work surfaces, walls, and floors clean and sanitized
  • Assisting the chefs with food preparation
  • Assisting with putting deliveries away
  • To work as part of a team, offering support to colleagues as and when needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a previous experience in a similar role
  • Possess the relevant Elementary Food Hygiene qualification and experience of working a HACCP system would be desirable however training will be given.
  • Have good organisational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure
  • Can work both independently and closely as part of a team
  • Evidence Legal Right to Work in the UK
  • Above all, demonstrate a strong team work ethic with a can-do attitude, proven professionalism, and excellent timekeeping.
