Equans is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team in St Davids Hospital Cardiff CF11 9XB on a permanent basis. This is a part time role working 30 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
The shift pattern will be 5 out of 7 days, including weekends. Shifts will either be 07.30-14.00 or 12.00-18.30.
What will you deliver?
To work as part of the Catering Team to maintain a clean and food safe department. Provision of a Catering Service in a Hospital/Healthcare setting to ensure high quality service provision.
Responsible for providing a high – quality catering service In line with local operational procedures and work schedules.
Communicate information relating to food service to users both verbally and by telephone.
Notifying management and administration on any discrepancies from receipt to distribution of catering supplies.
Organise own day to day work tasks or activities.
Reporting details of faults and failures of equipment /fabric of the building to
management.
Responsible for accepting food in line with department working instructions and using own initiative while complying with all food safety guidelines.
Temperature recording of chilled and frozen food.
Lifting and storing of provisions.
Carryout mop washing duties.
To work in a chilled area to allocate the patient food following the correct picking and packing process and adhering to food safety guidelines.
Responsible for the allocation of patient food to the housekeepers supporting them in making sure they have enough food to complete the meal service.
Assist in the training of new or relief staff.

Who are we looking for?
Good general level of education
Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
Food Allergens Training
Ability to work as part of a team (Essential)
Experience of working within Hotel & Catering industry and/or Facilities Management sector (Desirable)
