Are you a foodie looking for a way to kick-start your professional career in Catering? Chester Race Company are recruiting Kitchen Assistants for the 2023 race season and at many more events all year round! This role is exciting and varied, you’ll work events at Chester Racecourse, Bangor-on-Dee racecourse, as well as many other events such as weddings, private events, festivals, national televised awards and shows – all at prestigious venues across the region.

If successful, you will be supporting the Catering and Events teams in the smooth delivery of Catering at events including race days and our non-race days. You will play a pivotal part in our award winning success through providing a world class level of service.
Chester Race Company is one of the North-West’s most admired brand with an evolving portfolio including three racecourses (all of which were awarded “Gold Standard” by the Racehorse Owners Association in 2022), our own in-house gaming company ChesterBET, our catering company Horseradish, our Staffing agency Thyme People, an on-site hotel, and Commonhall St Social, a vibrant city centre pub within the group.
Duties of our Kitchen Assistants will include:
- Working in a busy kitchen environment
- Assisting Chef with plating of starters, mains and desserts
- Aiding in the smooth running of back of house
- Upholding our high standards, paying close attention to all dishes that leave the kitchen
- Adhering to Health & Safety procedures
The successful Kitchen Assistant will have the following:
- A passion for food and the catering industry
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or catering
- Enthusiasm and a willing to learn
- Ability to act under direction from seniors in a high pressured environment
- L2 Food Safety Certificate (or willing to complete the training with us)
Our rates of pay. All rates are inclusive of holiday pay and are in affect from 1st April 2023. £12.22 - £13.45 per hour (dependant on experience)
Shift availability
Our shifts vary! You are in control of the hours you work via our staff app however we would prefer consistency across race days at Chester.
Join us in time to work at BOODLES MAY FESTIVAL 10th to 12th May 2023! Our biggest and best race meeting of the calendar year at Chester Racecourse. With 3 race days in a row this is a great chance to get lots of experience in the role and top up your wages!
