Full time Kennels Assistant required for a busy boarding kennels and cattery.
Essential Requirements
- Practical & Caring approach to animal welfare.
- Good communication skills.
- It’s probable, but not essential, that you have experience of working in kennels.
- Confident with dog handling and knowledge of dog behaviour.
- Confident with cat handling
- High level of physical fitness for a demanding role and work well under pressure.
- Own transport essential due to rural location.
- 40 Hours per week.
08:00 to 17.00
5 days a week, this will included weekend work.
Responsibilities
Lemsford Boarding Kennels and Cattery is a professional busy working Kennels & Cattery of exceptional quality.
To succeed here you must have experience of handling a wide variety of breeds. You must be committed & passionate about caring for and working with all of the dogs and cats, some of which may be challenging.
The role includes cleaning kennels and Cattery pens, feeding dogs and cats, grooming, environmental, socialisation and various other kennel associated tasks. We are only looking for a conscientious individual to be part of our expanding team of kennel staff.
On a day-to-day basis, the responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;
- The opening and closing of the kennels
- Handling dogs and cats
- Cleaning Kennels and exercise areas
- Organising and feeding this may include accurate distribution of any medications
- Liaising with customers
- Working as part of a team
- Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Ensuring adequate cover every day is paramount. This is a business where our clients pets must be cared for whatever the weather, 365 days a year, and that includes Christmas Day.
Making sure that our customers and their pets get the very best quality experience is the number one priority.
There are no particular computer skills required for this job, however, it is essential that you have a keen eye for detail, dedication to the role, be a stickler for cleanliness and accuracy for paperwork.
You must have the professional manner and flexibility to support the owners and the business
The successful candidate will, ideally, have the following:
- Previous kennel experience is not necessarily essential, but the aptitude to progress is
- Experience of working with and understanding dogs and cats
- Calm under pressure
- Positive attitude
- An aptitude to work with all types of people
- A full UK driver’s license
- Two professional references which will be checked
