About us
We are a boarding kennels, located near the village of Gwaelod-y-Garth, Cardiff. We offer day board and overnight boarding to a range of dogs, and every dog is a special guest at Gedrys Farm. We do everything we can to make our guests’ stay enjoyable and safe, with regular outdoor play, and plenty of cuddles and attention. Our goal is to provide a high standard of care to each and every one of our guests.
Job Description
We are looking for a reliable, passionate, and confident Kennel Assistant to join our close-knit team to provide a safe, seamless, and above all, very positive experience for our guests. You will be working with other staff members to deliver high quality dog boarding whilst providing an exceptional customer experience. As a Kennel Assistant you will be responsible for caring for; cleaning, feeding and exercising dogs. We would prefer someone who has experience owning and caring for dogs, but we will consider someone with a genuine interest in working with dogs if you have proven customer service skills. Our Kennel Assistant should be capable of working quickly and efficiently whilst maintaining a high-quality standard of care, with close attention to the smallest detail.
This is a physically demanding job, so you must have a fairly high level of fitness, and be strong enough to walk larger dogs on-lead as needed. Experience of dog grooming or dog walking would be advantageous, but not essential.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for:
Supervising our canine guests, ensuring they have a safe and fun stay
Feeding all guests, paying attention to particular instructions for each guest
Implementing and complying with kennel policies and procedures.
Basic grooming and playing with guests, exercising dogs in the field
Cleaning kennels and ensuring all areas are spic and span
Communicating effectively with other staff members
Following and maintaining records regarding how each guest likes to be interacted with
Adhering to instructions in the administration of medications to guests if required
Providing feedback about our guests to their owners
Taking payments for stays and completing the registration documents / checking
information.
Delivering excellent, knowledgeable customer service
This role is primarily weekend hours, 9am - 5pm. We are happy to consider a weekend only appointment or a more flexible four to five day working week (which will include weekends). Weekday shifts are alternated between 7am - 4pm, and 10:30am - 6:30pm
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 14 - 32 per week
Salary: £7.50-£10.50 per hour
