Job description
Hours 8am to 6pm, with 1 hour for lunch plus two paid half hour breaks.
Statutory holiday and sick pay.
Do you have a love for animals and a passion for welfare?
Working in a busy boarding, stray and rescue kennel this job is physical, involves working in all weathers, sometimes time pressured and can have an emotional hit. It is also immensely rewarding and gives the opportunity to gain numerous skills and possibly to specialise. No two days are ever the same, except for always being busy, noisy, and having lots of dog and other animal contact.
The role involves the day to day care of dogs and a variety of other animals - cleaning, feeding, exercising, grooming, bathing etc. You will also get involved with medical care from basic parasite treatments to redressing wounds etc. and behavioural work and assessments with the rescue dogs. On top of this there is always paperwork, dealing with customers, laundry, restocking storage, painting and other essential tasks for keeping thing on track.
You need to have an eye for detail, good physical fitness and strength, the ability to work in a team or alone, the confidence to express your opinion, a robust, excellent reliability and time keeping and a pragmatic but empathetic approach to an animal in need. You also need to be able to get to and from our rural location without public transport.
