KENNEL and CATTERY Assistant

BCK is offering a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with cats and dogs to be part of their professional team responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care. The job does require dedicated, hardworking applicants with a good sense of humour, common sense and who is a team player.
Part-time and full-time positions available on a permanent contract within the hours of 08:00 -19.00. Split into two 6 hour shifts either 08.00 to 14.00 or 13.00 to 19.00, and dog walking shifts. Extra hours and change in shift patterns may be required at short notice. We take care of the animals 365 days throughout the year and you must be available to work weekends, school holidays and bank holidays (including Christmas & New Year).
Qualification/Skill Requirements
- Candidates must have either a relevant qualification or evidence of experience in the animal care industry (training will be given).
- Have stamina and fitness for physical tasks. (Walking dogs, cleaning, etc.)
- Be caring, observant, trustworthy and patient.
- Confident in handling animals and alert, so you can spot changes in animals' behaviour and health.
- Punctual, reliable and able to act on their own initiative.
- Able to work under pressure, take direction and manage time efficiently.
- Be practical and prepared to deal with excrement and waste.
- Have good communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers.
- Possess excellent housekeeping skills.
- MUST have their own transport due to the location.

Duties
All training shall be given in following our day-to-day standard operational procedures. Initially, duties include all aspects of feline and canine care, feeding, watering, walking dogs, cleaning, grooming, administering medications, checking in new arrivals to their allotted accommodation and much more. You will also be required to ensure the facility and surroundings are maintained in a tidy and presentable manner and are always secure.
A proven candidate with good people skills and computer knowledge can progress to reception work as part of their duties. Checking customers in and out of the cattery and kennels, taking bookings and enquiries by telephone, email and Facebook, checking vaccinations, taking payments, showing new clients around our facility and delivering an excellent customer service to our clients.
