About the Role
We are looking for a technically minded junior video editor to apply their skills in content production and editing. This role will support The Athletic’s team of producers and editorial team to build and maintain a news-focused video product. Our ideal candidate will have good experience in video editing and post-production in a fast-paced environment and have a good knowledge and a keen interest in technical equipment including cameras, lighting, microphones and editing software.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the production team on video projects, with support and oversight.
- Contribute to the technical management of livestreams with large audiences.
- Maintain, clean and manage our kit.
- Edit several videos per week, with a focus on quick-turnaround, and multi-format renders.
- Work with the operations team uploading our videos and creating thumbnails, writing metadata, descriptions, titles & performing general channel & community management on various distribution platforms.
- Contribute to the technical management of live-action shoots.
- Direct basic live-action shoots, including audio capture.
- Assist the other video production teams and editors with additional editing when required.
Requirements
- 1+ years of relevant industry experience.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experienced in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
- Good editing skills.
- Good level of professionalism; driven and motivated with excellent follow-up.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creative and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Broadcast journalism experience, and/or social video editing experience in the sports media industry is desirable.
- Must be based in London.
- Must be available to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.
