Junior Trader

As a Junior Trader this is an exciting opportunity for you to grow and develop your skills. To be successful in this role being skilled in report writing is a must as well as an analytical mindset when it comes to analysing data. In conversations with our suppliers and consumers you will be our advocate, building strong working relationships to ensure client satisfaction. Working as part of a team of 12, you will also provide cover for the Derivatives Trading Manager in their absence allowing you to upskill as you learn your trade.
You may not have all the experience we require at this point in your career which isn’t a problem for us. We are open to look at wide range of backgrounds - business/finance, brokerage or trading, City Trader, Foreign Exchange. Perhaps you have recently finished an internship or work placement in trading, manufacturing, or shipping.
Hybrid working - The role will be based 2 days a week in our Bedford Street office in London and 3 days at home.
What will you be doing?
- You would have used SAP in a previous role to maintain contracts ensuring accuracy of information entered and correctly tracked
- Accurately execute futures and currency trades as required from physical sales and customers
- Ensure up to date contracts are signed with all counterparties and that those contracts are in line with company policies
- Provide analysis and illustrate how traders can save/make money through efficiencies in our Global Trading Book
- Assist shipping operations and customer service with running and communicating shipping programs for our counterparties for white sugar
- Liaise with and provide support to the refinery sales teams; ensure their forecasted sales are communicated to the Derivatives Trading Manager
- Liaise with trading desk to review pending contracts. Monitor their journey through the legal and approval processes, file and ensure a complete record is maintained.
- Assist in the proactive monitoring of risk exposure as limits are being approached or in anticipation of planned transactions that would increase risk exposure beyond established risk tolerances
- Identify any material risks, liaising with Risk Management teams, Finance and Legal teams for any associated change to standard contractual terms.
What are we looking for?
- Good knowledge of sugar contract terms (SAL, RSAL, ICE)
- Previous experience of working within the sugar trade
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skill
- Good communication, influencing, interpersonal and numerate skills
- Strong Excel knowledge (writing Macro’s preferably)
