Summary.
We are seeking a Junior Tester to join our professional department as part of our expanding Quality Assurance (QA) Team in the UK. Our QA Team is responsible for ensuring the top quality of our products. The successful candidate will be helping to maintain and execute the test plans, delivery and monitoring of a document creation and management software platform, hosted on premise and in the cloud.
We are looking for candidates that are passionate about learning technical topics, to keep up to date on the products and then applying that knowledge to assist our Development teams.
This role is an opportunity for the right candidate to gain experience working in a software development company, learning new skills and build a career in a ”people first” company with excellent progression in QA Team with direction to automation. Some technical skills are required, but training on software will be given by the friendly team.
Duties and Responsibilities.
- Write new and maintain existing test plans:
- Work with the other members of QA Team to implement required tests
- Co-operate with the Development Team during the development cycle
- Translate functional specifications to test plans
- Reporting summary of defects to management prior to software releases
- Analyse production bugs and suggest and/or make improvements to internal test plans and processes
to eliminate weaknesses
- Execute required test plans, for example:
- regression
- performance
- load
- smoke
- Verification of bug fixes
- Keeping documentation up to date
- Release software
- Co-ordinate documentation release with Marketing and other departments
- Provide required software on the time
- Familiarise with needed knowledge
- Participate and contribute to sprint planning and daily stand-up meetings
Knowledge and Experience.
Essential:
- Experience working in an IT software development or testing team
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Excellent deductive and inductive reasoning and problem-solving; the ability to think logically and step through problems rigorously will be key in the success of this role
- Quick learning and ability to understand complex wide-ranging concepts
- Good problem solving and value simplicity
- Writing clean, properly detailed documentation and test plans, have a keen eye for detail
- Flexible, independent and self-motivated
- Business and commercial acumen to provide context to the solutions under test
- The ability to work with multiple stakeholders throughout the business
- Interest in career development in QA and test automation
Desirable:
- Basic knowledge of Azure hosted solutions and network configurations
- Programming experience in languages such as: java script, java/scala, SQL, powershell
- Experience using Azure DevOps + Test Plans, SQL Microsoft Server Management Studio, Oracle SQL Developer
- Familiarity with scrum/agile development methodologies
- Knowledge of testing tools, for example: Soap UI, Jmeter, Postman
