Junior Software QA Engineer

Luminary is looking for a Junior Software QA Engineer for the LUMI Music App, the software that drives our music learning platform LUMI.

LUMI is changing how people play and learn music by offering an integrated hardware and software experience for learning how to play the piano. LUMI was initially launched on Kickstarter and became the most successfully backed musical instrument on the platform, making Time magazine's top 100 inventions for 2019.

As a Junior Software QA Engineer, you will take responsibility for ensuring the quality of innovative software products across a variety of platforms. You will work closely with the Software Team and the QA Team to plan, execute and document tests for our existing products as well as new products in development, focusing on Luminary ROLI’s creator experience.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with mobile apps, mobile devices, and web technologies. Some knowledge and a keen interest in software QA testing that demonstrates key competencies is necessary to succeed in this role.

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with the QA team and Software Development Team to ensure consistent quality of software and content across the ROLI product range and websites

• Assist in various QA activities including:
  • Identify issues in development builds and produce detailed bug reports
  • Execute planned test cases, as well as creating/maintaining test plans and test cases as required
  • Assist in the maintenance of existing product/websites, as well as providing support towards new product/website developments across multiple operating systems, browsers and devices
• Represent the interests of the user; using hands on testing to find ways of improving the user experience of every aspect of our software and providing feedback to the team

What you’ll need:

• Experience working with mobile apps and web technologies

• Experience using various mobile devices, browsers and OS versions

• A passion for music and music technology

• Analytical and inquisitive mindset, with an ability to discuss complex problems

• Excellent organisation skills and an eye for detail

• Excellent communication skills, with excellent written English
• Superb and demonstrable time-management skills and the ability to work independently

Bonus points:

• Ability to read sheet music and an understanding of music theory
• Ability to play musical instruments
• Knowledge of current commercial musical trends
• Knowledge of bug tracking systems (e.g. Jira)
