Junior Social Media Editor

Reporting to: Senior Social Media Editor (London, UK & Travel)

Role Overview

Are you immersed in the world of social media? Got a keen eye for spotting emerging digital trends? Love London, travel and TikTok?

We’re looking for a sharp, witty and well-rounded Deputy Social Media Editor to create and share content across our growing channels. You’ll be equally as comfortable writing social captions and headlines and reporting analytics as you are shooting and editing engaging Instagram Stories and TikToks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage social media output across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flipboard, Pinterest and TikTok
  • Keep up with what’s trending in London (food, film, theatre, art, things to do) across the internet and report at daily morning meetings
  • Turn digital features into social-friendly packages across different platforms
  • Shoot shareable images/videos at key London events and happenings
  • Produce and edit short-form video for our social outlets, using a smartphone
  • Analyse traffic and engagement to identify trends and opportunities
  • Engage with comments and feedback on social channels in an intelligent and chatty manner, we’re all humans here!
  • Stay abreast of new functionalities and technology: such as AR filters or Facebook Business Manager tools and new/emerging platforms
  • Champion and adhere to Time Out’s social media tone of voice guidelines
  • Work closely with Time Out’s commercial departments to execute branded content solutions
  • Embrace Time Out’s digital-first, mobile-first philosophy:strong background in digital production is essential

Skills and Experience

  • A demonstrable passion for writing and excellent knowledge of social media
  • Write highly engaging copy in line with editorial standards
  • A creative view of social media and flare for originality and innovation
  • Ability to identify relevant breaking news stories and feature opportunities across social
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent grasp and understanding of SEO best practice
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a fun and dynamic environment
  • Desirable: a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Desirable: working knowledge of CMS, CapCut, DashHudson or similar editing, analytics and scheduling tools
