Job description
We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Junior Sister to join our team of Junior sisters/charge nurses to support the Band 7 Senior Sister for Ward 24. Your main role will be to lead and develop the staff groups and care delivery in the two distinct areas - Inpatients/HDU and PAU/Day Unit.
This will be a permanent position which will be reviewed as part of the Paediatric and Frimley Health Nursing Structure
To support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in leading the nursing team, ensuring that high standards are met and maintained for all children and their families.
To support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with ensuring ward ethos reflects the trust values, and assist with the delivery of patient safety, a good patient experience and effective running of the ward/department.
To work as part of a team of nurses, nursery nurses, and support workers ensuring the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating of nursing care for all children is carried out to the highest standard.
Your main role will be to lead and develop the staff groups and care delivery in the two distinct areas - Inpatients/HDU and PAU/Day Unit.
- To act as a credible clinical role model
- To undertake operational duties to maintain efficiency and patient safety
- To deliver and audit Trust and national standards
- To support and provide leadership for nursing teams
- To act as a mentor and assist on the induction of new staff and students, providing supervision where appropriate
- To participate in recruitment and selection of new staff.
- To co-ordinate the team/ward in absence of the Sister.
- To be aware of the complaints procedure and to deal with first level complaints as necessary.
