Brief overview of role
Are you tech savvy with a passion for outstanding customer service? Leading telecoms and Digital Infrastructure provider, Svella Connect, is hiring an IT apprentice! Reporting to the Desktop Support Lead, you will support internal users with hardware, software, and key systems including troubleshooting issues and deploying new systems and services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties will include:
- Provide 1st line technical support for company computer systems and user equipment, including laptops, desktops, smartphones, and tablets.
- Providing remote user support for desktop and mobile users, including occasional site visits for job resolution and equipment delivery.
- Performing basic administrative support duties, as required, to meet specific operational objectives.
- Fault diagnosis on company devices such as laptops and desktops, mobile phones, and tablets.
- Liaise with external suppliers and contractors.
- Purchasing, imaging, and configuring new laptops, desktops, mobiles & tablets, including software installation.
- Providing the first point of contact for staff and dealing with issues whist managing service desk workload.
- Escalating issues to 2nd line where necessary.
- Utilising support tools including ITSM and endpoint management software such as Manage Engine ServiceDesk Plus and Desktop Central.
Training
Level 3 Information Communications Technician Standard.
Apprenticeship training will be delivered in a classroom environment, from the EMA Derby Hub on Siddals Road, Derby.
You will have access to modern, high performance machines, in addition to having the opportunity to explore computer hardware with expert tutors and instructors.
The qualification has core knowledge elements, before branching out into 3 pathways, which are as follows:
- IT Support Technician
- Network Technician
- Digital Communications Technician
The employer and training provider will agree on which is the most appropriate pathway, and this will influence the project as part of the end-point assessment.
Career Progression
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will have the opportunity to progress onto a higher level apprenticeship programme, if agreed by the IT Director as part of a structured professional development plan. There will be a range of progression pathways on offer, including cyber security, network engineering, projects and consultancy.
