Job Title: Junior Security AnalystSalary: £26,216 - £28.497 gross per annumHours: Full-Time (We understand the importance of work-life balance, and are happy to discuss the possibility of flexible working with applicants, but the nature of the role requires on-site working 3 days per week)Contract Type: 2x Permanent PositionsLocation: Daresbury, WarringtonDue to the requirement of obtaining an enhanced security clearance for this role, we are only able to accept applications from persons who have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.Together, our scientist, technologists, engineers and business support team explore the unknown and turn what they find into work that changes the world around us.Come and discover how much you can achieve when you’re surrounded by world-leading experts, encouraged to constantly learn and empowered to explore your curiosity.STFC’s Digital Infrastructure department provides the infrastructure and enterprise services that underpin STFC’s programme activities, and we are looking for 2 Junior Security Analysts to join our team and provide essential proactive cybersecurity monitoring.The departments project portfolio includes projects across a number of disciplines including IT Security, Networks, Applications, Telephony, Cloud, Infrastructure, Data Management and High Performance Computing.You will support cyber security monitoring and delivery activity and proactively analyze security threats/risks to the environment. It will be your responsibility to monitor Information Security and information management to ensure compliance. Including reviewing and monitoring system and network logs for malicious activity or unacceptable use.You will be responsible for problem solving, using industry standard methods. There is scope to utilise innovative & adaptive thinking, including offering advice on technical issues and more complex fault diagnosis.Person Specification· A relevant cyber security qualification or relevant subject matter / industry experience. (STFC will fund one relevant professional body membership).· ITIL Foundation level or prepared to undertake online certification within 12 months (instructor led virtual training class and exam fee funded by STFC).· Cyber operations knowledge / experience across the Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover domains. As examples, monitoring, vulnerability management, end point management, and participation in monitoring, threat detection, response and recovery teams.· Good knowledge and relevant experience performing at least one of technical roles, endpoint security, asset management, MS windows / Linux / Apple system admin, mobile device management (IOS / Android), and cloud or on-premises servers / data back-up.· An awareness of the role of Information Security standards, legislation and practices, such as GDPR & Data Protection Act 2018.· Experience in dealing with Information Security matters ideally within an ITIL based team.· Able to think creatively to solve problems, comfortable working as a team where there is a fast pace of technology change.Our Benefits:Our Benefits include a flexible working scheme (subject to business requirements), Defined benefit pension scheme, and 30 days annual leave allowance plus 10.5 bank holiday/privilege days and several other benefits.As one of Europe’s largest research organisations, this is a place where there’s always something new to learn – about the world around us, about your career, but most of all, about yourself.Join us and discover what’s possible!Job Type: Full-timeWork Location: In person
