Junior Project Manager – Crewe
Junior Project Manager required to provide support and guidance to the fuels business in delivering ‘Optimum’ alongside other key projects, to support our growth plans.
The role represents the opportunity to drive key projects across the business. As our Junior Project Manager, you will focus on how our systems and processes are developed and implemented within the business with an immediate focus on delivering project optimum. You will be able to establish a strong and collaborative approach in ensuring that the business has a comprehensive understanding of optimum as well as the wider project management capabilities across the network of depots and at head office.
Key Accountabilities
- Delivering key business projects with immediate priority and focus on Optimum.
- Writing best practice process and procedure across the business
- Drive consistency across the depots and head office
- Pre- and post-acquisition of process and system integration of the business systems between head office and newly acquired businesses including finance, HR and IT.
- Provide PMO support services & reporting to senior management for weekly, monthly updates and group project status reports.
- Update project plans routinely to provide accurate status of progress.
- Have responsibility for assigned projects.
- Ensure that all assigned projects are managed in line with the relevant project framework to deliver to agreed quality, scope, time, and commercial terms.
- Define viable project objectives, scope and deliverables.
- Applying project lifecycle, methodology and processes effectively
- Preparation and maintenance of all project documentation
- Professional and effective planning and control of projects
- Identify and quantify project risks with proposed mitigating actions.
- Proactive ongoing management throughout the project lifecycle
You'll need to have a rounded understanding of how core business process’s function including Operations, Finance, HR, Sales and Distribution as well as IT systems that support them. Through this understanding, you’ll be able to encourage and promote a collaborative working approach.
Skills/Experience:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation, presentation and collaboration.

- Excellent project management, organisational, and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate concepts to clients and proven ability to work effectively with all organisational levels.
- Ability to anticipate risks and devise solutions in the moment, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to take an impartial view and diplomatically challenge stakeholders to keep aligned with priorities.
- Extensive knowledge of project management processes, systems development methods, organisational change management concepts, and business process improvement methods
- Business process experience (not only technical) and understand of a depot led business.
- Complex integration projects
- Previous experience working with Sales, Finance, HR, Operations (ERP systems)
- Strong commercial background and experience working across a depot based, distribution business model.
- Drive and ambition is key – the passion to succeed through the busiess success
- Degree or equivalent education background in business and/or project management
- Results orientated approach.
- Experience of working with people and third parties to deliver strategy and measurable results.
- Inquisitive approach to finding new ways to solve problems.
- Able to simplify complexity and shape ambiguity to enable clear communication and build understanding across the business.
Hours – Monday to Friday 8.30 -5
