Introduction:
As a Junior Project Engineer within Boeing's European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Modification Integrated Product Team (IPT), you will be an essential member of the team responsible for managing and executing aircraft modification projects in compliance with EASA regulations. You will work under the guidance of senior project engineers, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution, on-time delivery, and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Assist senior project engineers in planning, organizing, and coordinating aircraft modification projects. Participate in project kickoff meetings and support the development of project plans, timelines, and deliverables
- Documentation Management: Maintain project documentation, including project schedules, status reports, change requests, and technical documentation. Ensure all records are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
- Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities. Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and address inquiries to keep all parties informed
- : Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams, such as manufacturing, supply chain, and certification groups. Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
- Risk Management: Support the identification and assessment of project risks and assist in the implementation of risk mitigation strategies. Monitor risk factors throughout the project lifecycle and propose appropriate actions to minimize potential issues.
- Certification and Compliance: Work closely with regulatory authorities and certification agencies to obtain necessary approvals for cabin modifications. Ensure that all modifications meet FAA, EASA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Technical Supplier Management: Collaborating with suppliers to obtain accurate certification data and ensure smooth product integration. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the highest quality and cost-effective solutions. Act as the primary technical contact for suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimizations. Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of future cabin retrofit endeavors.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Provide regular status updates and progress reports to Interior Modifications Senior Leader and other stakeholders.
- Lessons Learned: Contribute to lessons learned sessions after project completion to identify areas for improvement and share best practices for future projects.
- Quality Assurance: Support the implementation of quality control measures throughout the modification process. Participate in quality inspections and ensure adherence to Boeing's quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Some practical experience in engineering project management, preferably in the aviation or aerospace industry, through internships, co-op programs, or entry-level positions.
- Familiarity with aircraft systems and engineering principles.
- Basic understanding of EASA regulations and aircraft certification processes is a plus.
- Proficient in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail for tracking project metrics and identifying potential issues.
- Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
