This role will be based at Rochester whilst adapting to Siemens hybrid flexible working.
Grid Software provides precision metering for the grid, power stations, and renewables with a long history of providing complete end-to-end solutions for high-accuracy networks metering from installation through to operation. With more than 20 years’ of experience in the industry, Siemens have developed a reputation for delivering high-quality solutions to tight deadlines. We are an accredited CVA meter operator providing end-to-end metering solutions.
Our business provides several increasingly complex metering and data acquisition solutions to the power and energy industry. Amongst others, we provide Dynamic System Monitoring, Power Quality, Generator performance monitoring and Operational Metering. These rely on extensive data networking and an increasing focus on Cyber Security. Products may be hardware or software, in-house developed or from third party suppliers.

Areas of Responsibility:
Reporting to the Product Manager, the position provides the role holder extensive learning and development opportunity to towards gaining the background and product knowledge to provide product support and training to internal and external customers.
- Gain a wide understanding of how the electricity industry works and how our products fit into customer requirements.
- Assist with providing internal training to Design Engineers / Field teams on our products and solutions
- Working towards being competent at resolving problems ranging from networks, protocol, interfacing and data issues
- Creating and maintaining reference and training documents
- Assisting with configuring systems to ensure compliance to specification – This will mostly be in the workshop but occasional site visits will be necessary so a full UK driving license (or working towards one) is essential.
- Joining meetings with clients to increase both technical and commercial knowledge
- Learning through assisting with Factory Acceptance testing (sometimes with customers present)
- Help with fault finding on systems to determine / resolve hardware and configuration issues
What skills and experience you will bring to the role:
HNC or equivalent in electronic engineering discipline or similar (such as ICT, industrial communications etc).- Self motivated, keen to explore new ideas and opportunities and work unsupervised is essential
- Keen to learn about Engineering / Electronics
- Excellent written and spoken English
- An understanding of Network products - switches, VLANs etc would be desirable
- Good capabilities with PC applications (standard windows and manufacturer specific)
- Some understanding of electronic hardware would be a strong advantage
- Occasional working away from home may be required on an unscheduled basis so a UK driving license (or working towards one) is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills to build your own social connections and rapport with internal and external customers.
