About Tech Against Terrorism and the TATE project
Tech Against Terrorism supports the global technology sector in responding to terrorist use of the internet whilst respecting human rights. We focus on smaller tech platforms who might not have capacity or capability to respond to the threat of exploitation without support. We work closely with the United Nations, the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT), dozens of smaller tech platforms, democratic governments, and civil society.
Tech Against Terrorism Europe (TATE) will support small online platforms in building capacity to counter terrorist content, in compliance with the EU Regulation on Addressing the Dissemination of Terrorist Content Online (TCO). TATE will leverage Tech Against Terrorism’s expertise in providing direct policy and practical support to tech companies in countering terrorist use of their services, via our Mentorship Programme, Knowledge Sharing Platform, and Terrorist Content Analytics Platform. With TATE, Tech Against Terrorism will work in a consortium of 7 partners organisations across Europe to provide small online platforms with comprehensive support in understanding the terrorist threat and mitigation strategies in line with EU legal requirements. TATE is a project funded by the European Union.
The Role
Tech Against Terrorism is looking for a Policy Analyst to support the delivery of our key policy projects, including Tech Against Terrorism Europe (TATE). In this role, you will play a critical role in the delivery of TATE and other policy projects. You will work directly with small tech companies to support them in building resilient and rights safeguarding counterterrorism strategy, and in complying with online regulation. You will lead on organising and preparing workshops and events, both online and in-person in the UK and the EU. You will also support project leads with the delivery of projects, including project documentation, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation to ensure the successful delivery of our funded projects.
In this role you will work closely with Tech Against Terrorism’s Policy Advisory and Response (PAR) team and the TATE project lead. You will have the opportunity to specialise in topics related to online counterterrorism efforts, including tech policy, legal responses to terrorist use of the internet, Trust & Safety, human rights and digital rights. This role involves a focus on EU online regulation and counterterrorism response, as well as counterterrorism strategies deployed by tech companies.
Responsibilities:
- Support the PAR and TATE project team with the analysis of tech company counterterrorism policies, enforcement mechanisms, and transparency reporting.
- Support the TATE project team in advising tech companies on compliance with EU legal requirements on countering terrorist content.
- Support the PAR and TATE project team in advising tech companies in transparency and accountability around online counterterrorism efforts.
- Act as the lead point of contact for some of the platforms benefiting from Tech Against Terrorism support.
- Support the PAR and TATE team’s outreach efforts to tech companies and stakeholders in government, civil society and academia.
- Organise in-person and online knowledge sharing events for the benefit of tech companies both in the UK and internationally.
- Support the successful delivery of the TATE and TAT funded projects, incl. ensuring correct documentation and reporting, monitoring & evaluation, and drafting of financial and factual project reports in compliance with funding guidelines.
- Provide ad hoc support on other policy projects across the team.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in law, international politics, counterterrorism, public policy, or tech policy
- Strong understanding of EU counter terrorism and tech legislation and policy
- Experience working in workshop or event organisation
- Experience in working with EU institutions or on EU funded projects
- Willingness to regularly travel to the EU
Nice to have
- Knowledge of another EU language (German or French) is a plus
