Junior Payroll Specialist

Division: Payroll Department

Reports To: Group Payroll Manager

Based: Sheffield Office

Role Specification

Role Objective: Assist with end-to-end processing of the payroll schedule including pension deductions and other ad-hoc payments and deductions.


Summary of Role Responsibilities:


  • To assist in accurately processing the monthly payroll using PayCircle [SDWorx software] whilst keeping to tight time constraints.
  • To assist in accurately preparing, processing and updating the Company Pension Schemes with Aegon, Fidelity, and NEST.
  • To assist in the preparation and processing of monthly expenses.
  • To undertake training programs as required ensuring up to date Payroll knowledge.
  • To assist in any ad-hoc project work as directed by management.
  • To assist with manual checking of payroll input.
  • To assist in processing Tax Year End and any changes.
  • Any other duties as and when required by management.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Essential


  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including advanced Excel skills
  • Good general standard of education, minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including Maths and English
  • The desire to learn and the ability to be teachable
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to juggle multiple demands
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to adhere to set processes and regulations
  • A good attitude

Desirable

  • Payroll experience
  • A payroll qualification or studying towards a Payroll qualification
