First Bus are looking for Junior Network Planner in West Yorkshire

As our Junior Network Planner, you will support your colleagues in the Network Team to optimise supply and demand using data, and to be a key advocate for the use of technology for improving business performance.

Amongst other responsibilities, you will create customer focused, robust, and punctual bus timetables for the York and West Yorkshire bus network. You will then use your excellent geographical knowledge of the area to convert them into clear and efficient bus diagrams.

You will be joining a passionate, dedicated and agile team at a very exciting time, as we shape the future of the network with our new, state of the art electric bus fleet.

What will you be doing?

  • Creating clear and efficient bus timetables.
  • Converting bus timetables into workable, efficient bus diagrams.
  • Ensuring routes are fully tracked within Optibus and all metadata is complete.
  • Identifying, validating and implementing improvements to the network.
  • Using data to develop punctuality improvement plans.
  • Continuously reviewing and refining existing operations to enhance the customer experience.
  • Ensuring all bus service registrations are submitted in line with Traffic Commissioner and local authority timescales.

  • Analytical capabilities: Ability to identify and evaluate improvement opportunities
  • Good geographical knowledge of the local area
  • An understanding of scheduling would be a benefit but is not a prerequisite
  • Commercial awareness
