Job Description
- Lead and takes ownership of the preparation and presentation of Trading reports.
- Work with the Buyer to monitor and drive the achievement of sales and margin plans and proactively propose actions to maximise sales and margin whilst minimising risk.
- Propose and plan markdown/promotional deal actions and suggests exit strategies for poor-performing lines.
- Communicate all stock issues and price changes in a timely manner.
- Manage category OTBs, ensuring all PO's are inputted, delivery schedule is updated
- Suggest tactical solutions and identify potential spending including accurate reflection of OTB within Cash Flow.
- Work with Finance to ensure stock is paid for in a timely manner, approving weekly payment lists and escalating issues to the Merchandising Manager.
- Manage the Merchandise Assistant to deliver an accurate weekly delivery schedule
- Oversee the landed cost process, monitor actual landed cost vs. estimated landed cost
- Ensure that PO's are landed in a timely manner and resolve any timing issues with key stakeholders (Finance,
- Freight Forwarder and 3PL).
- With support from the Merchandise Manager, work to the critical dates and deadlines in both the planning and trading process.
- Create analysis, and take commercial action to drive sales, margin, and conversion rate.
- Undertake ad hoc projects as required.
The Successful Applicant
- Experienced at a Junior Merchandiser or Senior Assistant level if that has included planning and trading your own category, with merchandise planning experience.
- Experience working in an eCommerce retail business would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Experience in managing direct reports and ownership of category.
- Experience in homewares, fabric, or soft furnishings would be beneficial
- Highly numerate and analytical, with excellent accuracy and advanced Excel reporting skills.
- Relevant degree or business-related qualification ideal, but not obligatory.
