Your New Role...
We are looking to add a talented Junior Lighting Artist to our team. By working as a Junior Lighting Artist at Rocksteady you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of lighting scenarios where you will be able to showcase and develop your creativity, applying your talent into games that will be played by millions of people.
You will be able to learn from other talented Lighting Artists with extensive experience and enjoy a great deal of creative ownership over what you do. This means your work will have a direct impact on the visuals of the game. At the same time, you will be supported and mentored so you can develop your skills and grow into your role.
The role is a 12 month fixed-term contract, and hybrid or remote working options are possible.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Creating high quality artistic and functional lighting for environments, cinematics and characters which fulfils both art and design requirements.
- Working with the Lead Lighting Artist and the Senior lighting artists to realize the project's artistic vision.
- To gain a good understanding of the project tool chain/game engine with a desire to improve both technically and artistically.
- Able to work with both artistic hand placed lighting as well as with more technical and systemic approaches.
- Adequate knowledge of PBR shading in current gen games and knowledge of how light and materials behave in the real world and how this applies in game.
- Interest in lighting, colour theory and image composition proven with a portfolio that can showcase these skills.
- Good knowledge of any real time 3D engine although specific Unreal engine experience is a bonus.
- A desire to develop your skills and keep up to date with industry trends.
- Keen understanding of cinematography and how to best implement lighting for Cinematic scenes preferred.
- A photographic eye and mind-set to be able to correctly interpret exposure and lighting values in game preferred.
