POSITION SCOPE
- Working within our FP&A team as a Junior Finance Analyst to develop your career to become a finance professional
- This is an entry level role for a highly motivated recent graduate from a top university and presents a significant opportunity to develop your career within the finance function of a leading global food producer
- The successful candidate will be sponsored to complete relevant professional finance qualifications (CIMA – within 3 years) and to become Level 1 and Level 2 Certified on Anaplan (Cloud Based Planning Software – within 1 year)
- In addition, other on the job training will be provided in a range of finance systems (Excel, SAP, Power BI, BI) and the broader soft skills required to become a successful finance professional
- The role will initially focus on performing ad-hoc analysis of problems facing our business – with a focus on data analysis. The successful candidate will then rotate across the wider Operational or Commercial Finance teams, broadening their knowledge of our business, so ensuring they gain the breadth of experience to truly understand our business and become a trusted and respected finance business partner
- Upon qualification as an Accountant, you will be well positioned for a more senior role within the finance team, with opportunities for progression, as opportunity/interest dictate
- This role will be based at Thames Refinery in East London. Central London office as required. Scope for remote working two days a week.
POSITION STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES AND KEY DELIVERABLES
- On a day-to-day basis the role will include a mix of responsibilities, which will expand as the candidate develops
- Initially these tasks will focus on the foundational skills, for example analyzing large data sets and model building. You will also work with experienced FP&A managers on performance driving projects, enabling on the job learning
- The role will then develop with a focus on core finance skills, for example standard costing and performing month end tasks. You will also support colleagues with year-end statutory audit, annual budgeting and quarterly reporting
- By the third year of the programme, we would expect you to have end-to-end ownership of functional P&L accounts and having responsibility to partner with relevant functional stakeholders
- Successful completion of professional finance exams (e.g., CIMA) will be a key requirement of the role
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
- To be enthusiastic and driven to develop your career as a finance professional in a manufacturing environment
- To be intellectually curious and naturally inquisitive. A willingness to learn about our business is essential
- To be data driven and have strong attention to detail, taking a forensic view, as required. To be highly analytical
- To be organized and capable of managing multiple activities, producing work with a high degree of accuracy
- Excel skills/Power BI/competent in use of VBA and Macros – beneficial. A willingness to learn – essential
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree, technical subject preferred (e.g., Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics etc.)
