Job description
Ariel Motor Company are a Niche manufacturer performance vehicles based in the beautiful Somerset countryside. The company is a family run business comprising around 30 staff producing vehicles which are assembled, designed, sold and maintained on site near Crewkerne.
Role description
Ariel is seeking a capable Mechanical Engineer to join the in-house design team. The successful candidate will work with the other engineers towards the development of the full range of current and future products, including the current Atom, Nomad and other current projects. Once accustomed and trained – the successful candidate would have a certain amount of autonomy in specific projects and tasks. All engineers report to Head of Design/Engineering and General Management.
Competencies
The successful candidate is expected to come from an automotive background and have experience in vehicle engineering design. The vacancy is well suited to a younger, well qualified individual that is keen to learn and has some experience in the sector. Someone looking for an exciting challenge in an agile, responsive, and innovative company, or as progression into a Senior position for an experienced and talented engineer.
To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
· Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
· Solidworks and Microsoft Office user
· Design and manufacturing experience Automotive/Motorsport
· Communication skills, positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure
The following will also be advantageous:
· Proven automotive design for manufacture experience
· Broad vehicle platform knowledge
· Good organisational skills
· Experience in niche/low volume automotive or motorsport sectors
Other:
Occasional long distance UK travel required
Core 40 hours per week Mon-Fri 8.30-5

Overtime Pay 1.5x usual – Overtime hours 7.30am-8.30am 5pm-7.30pm weekedays, 8.30-12 Saturdays.
