Overview of project/role
Over the past couple of years, we have built an innovative, world-class digital team, to shape the future of our digital service across all touchpoints. The TfL Go app and our website are being used by millions of Londoners every day and we are continuously looking at next generation innovation – from more intelligent digital displays to new features across all of our touchpoints.
We are highly collaborative and agile in our approach, working across strategy, innovation, design and continuous delivery in a multi-disciplinary Digital Studio at North Greenwich, London.
We are now looking for Junior designers who will join us to define the future, anchored in our iconic design legacy. You must have experience and a keen interest in typography and graphic design, as well as experience in designing for digital.
Key Accountabilities
You will work closely with other designers, product managers and developers in the team, providing visual UI and content for TfL’s digital products and services, ensuring your work contributes to a powerful and compelling user experience.
You will design UI patterns and flows, create prototypes, research, acquire, optimise and publish photos and if this is part of your skillset, have the opportunity to create illustrations and animations.
You will work across multiple platforms, making sure everything we design is inclusive by default, as well as responsive and adaptive to different environments and moments customers may find themselves in.
Knowledge
You have a good understanding of digital design and emerging consumer technologies. You are interested in making digital services that are designed for everyone and accessible to all. You understand the foundations of visual design and interaction design, having a keen interest in typography, colour, illustration, iconography and layout as well as UI flows, transitions, states and motion design.
Experience
You will have experience in prototyping, as well as creating visual design work in commonly used tools, such as for example Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Origami, Marvel, InVision or other tools. You are a fast learner and quickly adapt to new software as our tools evolve.
Skills
Being skilled in HTML and CSS would be of benefit.
