Overview:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Digital Designer to join our fast-growing, supportive and diverse Birmingham Creative Team. You’ll be working primarily on our Jaguar Land Rover eCRM work, creating impactful, hard-working and responsive emails for all of our Jaguar Land Rover brands, covering everything from helping to create email campaigns to launch our new Modern Luxury vehicles, through to encouraging current owners to stay loyal to the brand – not to mention keeping them up to date with all the latest news from the Jaguar TCS’s Racing team.

As such, you’ll be working closely with the rest of the JLR Creative team, including our Creative Director and senior writers, art directors, designers and html team, all with the goal of ensuring every piece of work that goes out the door is as strong as it possibly can be. We’ll expect you to bring your digital design expertise from day one, but we’ll also ensure you receive the support you need to get up to speed on the JLR brand guidelines, image library, brand positioning and product knowledge.

And once you have, you’ll be able to enjoy as much responsibility as you can handle, together with the opportunity to present your work directly to the client and grow your profile within the team and the rest of the company. Responsibilities:

  • You’ll be working as part of the Jaguar Land Rover creative team to design emails for our eCRM campaigns.
  • You’ll become an expert in / grow your expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Jaguar Land Rover’s ESP) and use that knowledge to push our email offering forward.
  • You’ll work to understand JLR’s Modern Luxury brand positioning and understand what it means for your creative work and choice of imagery
  • You’ll need to become familiar with JLR’s image library, learn how to search for imagery and use it within our email templates
  • You’ll build bridges with the wider JLR team to learn more about the brand, the products and our processes
  • We’re operating a flexible hybrid working model, so when you’re not in the office, you’ll need to be extra-adept at managing your workload, hitting your deadlines and keeping the rest of your team in the loop as to how your day’s going
  • While you’ll receive the support you need to grow your career and skillsets, we’ll also look to you to proactively bring new industry innovations, approaches and skills to the table to help grow the entire team’s expertise

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of 18 months’ experience in designing emails as part of your design skillsets (working with SFMC would be an advantage, but not essential) – and a portfolio of work that shows us what you can do (even if not all of it ran)
  • You could have worked at an agency or in-house at a client
  • You should be familiar with email best practice, be mobile-first in your approach, understand how emails respond on different devices and platforms and how creating and including GIFs can increase response rates.
  • html skills would be an advantage (we have people with html skills in-house) but not essential
  • Experience in After Effects / Motion graphics would also be an advantage, but not essential
  • An interest in how automotive and/or particularly luxury brands communicate to their (prospective) customers
  • Experience in creating social assets & campaigns would be an advantage too, but not essential
  • You should be able to work as part of a team, whether that’s in the office or remotely, keeping your colleagues in the loop about your workload, your deadlines and your progress
  • While we’re currently operating a hybrid working model, you should be able to travel to and work in our Birmingham office when required (we’re three minutes’ walk from Birmingham New Street Station.)
  • You should have an interest in industry innovations, including how AI can support your creative work - and be happy to proactively share them with the rest of the team
  • And finally, you should love what you do. You should care about the details. And you should want to make every day a school day – both in terms of your own knowledge and that of your fellow team members. Do all that, and you’ll find you’ll get it paid back – and then some.
