Junior Data Scientist
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £30k - £35k DOE
Fully Remote or Hybrid options available
Are you a Junior Data Scientist looking to join an exciting data team to work on extraction of insights from simulation data?
Our client is democratising simulation training by bringing high end simulation capability, once the sole domain of elite roles such as pilots, surgeons and F1 drivers, to whoever needs it, whenever they need it, wherever they need it.
Their insight is that VR, as well as being a great way of presenting data to a user, is also an incredibly powerful data capture medium. They combine virtual reality technology with data capture, analysis and machine learning (ML) in order to measure, evaluate and predict human performance and improve training outcomes.
The Role of our Junior Data Scientist will:
· Develop data science approaches, particularly data visualisation solutions and approaches to extracting insights from data.
· This role will be centred on the large simulation related datasets gathered, helping to develop predictive analytics approaches and data visualisation solutions to communicate insights discovered
· Working towards product vision of an adaptive learning environment.
· Work on applied research projects, including the GUARD project
· Ingestion of datasets from maritime surveillance UAVs and their operators in order to predict & improve performance
· Help the data team create new products and build new solutions to existing ones
Essential Skills for the role of Junior Data Scientist:
· Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, ML, Mathematics, or any
Quantitative field
· Knowledge in building mid-scale or large-scale data science solutions
· Experience of developing data visualisation solutions.
· Experience of developing predictive analytics or ML solutions
· Prior work experience as an applied scientist or a data scientist is a plus
· Familiarity with working with time series data from sensors would be a plus
· Ability to collaborate and work well as part of a results-oriented, remote team.
· Be able to demonstrate initiative, determination, high quality output and excellent communication skills
· An interest in gaming and simulation would be a bonus
Ideal Candidate for the role of Junior Data Scientist:
· Should have demonstrated expertise in developing data visualisation solutions using relevant, modern technologies
· Have substantial knowledge of data science practices, ideally including ML frameworks and algorithms.
· Be able to conduct research and bring new insights to enable the company to meet the customer’s needs.
