Job description

As a junior data scientist at Geospatial Insight, you will work within our software team with the primary role of enhancing Geospatial Insight’s geospatial data delivery and analytics software in the domain of atmospheric science and geointelligence.

We operate using cutting edge technology to maximise performance and minimise development overhead, therefore any candidate interested in the role must be up to date and remain up to date with the latest in data analysis technologies.

Principal Responsibilities:

· Develop solutions to help bolster the system with additional testing and redundancy

· Implement data science pipelines to either process or import atmospheric datasets

· Provide professional advice on technology evolutions and suggestions for future direction regarding the uptake of new technologies and software as they become available

· To support our other data scientists with activities as required to support the day-to-day operation

Essential knowledge, skills and requirements:

  • Python
  • MySQL and/or PostGreSQL
  • Experience of using git
  • CI methodologies and implementation
  • At least 1 year of commercial experience
  • Experience of working in a development team in an agile environment.

Desirable knowledge, skills and requirements:

  • Experience with atmospheric models
  • Experience with remote sensing solutions (ie. QGIS)
  • Experience with geospatial data processing
  • Docker
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Gitlab CI
