Job description
We wish to appoint 1 clinical fellow at CT1-2 in Acute Medicine on a 12 month contract. The post is based in the Acute Medicine department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, and is being advertised to fill an existing post due to the current postholder moving on. The post has a negotiable on-call commitment, at the same frequency as the other ACCS/CMT/GPVST trainees.
The acute medicine team covers 34 in-patient beds across a Acute Medicine Assessment unit and Medical SDEC unit. There are opportunities to also be involved in the Acute Medicine Clinic and AKI Clinic, accepting the full range of acutely unwell patients.
There is a separate rota of on-call juniors and consultants seeing the ‘on-take’ patients. If you are able to join the on-call rota, you will rotate through these on-call days at the same frequency as the other medical ACCS/CMT/GPVTS trainees, though the on-call commitment is negotiable. This post currently is just for 9-5pm normal working days on our Medical SDEC and Acute Medicine Assessment Unit.
The Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) has 520 beds and is the city's main teaching hospital. The Out-Patient Department holds Clinics for all the major specialties and deals with 153,600 patients per year. The Hospital's Emergency Department deals with 70% of the City's accident cases. Separate units for Haematology, Oncology, Eye, Dental, Children and Maternity cases are within a radius of a quarter of a mile.
Applicants should be eligible for CT1-level appointment. Non UK applicants must provide written evidence of appropriate knowledge, training and skills.
