Job description

We are looking for an adaptable, team-oriented person to be our Junior Chemist working within the Flavours Team.

You will be joining a young and enthusiastic team of scientists, marketing, sales and support staff within our premises in Leatherhead. This role is based within our labs at our offices in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Role scope

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the Production of flavour standards
  • Monitor and maintaining chemical stocks
  • Monitoring and assisting with the production of flavour standard complexes using cyclodextrins (nanochemistry) – working with the Flavours team
  • Calibration of all equipment in the flavour laboratories and making sure all servicing is done in a timely manner and all certification is up to date
  • Maintaining stock of all chemicals, chemical register and all associated HACCP documentation
  • Dilution of manufactured flavours with excipients (sugar or cyclodextrins) to produce accurate and specific levels of flavour suitable for various sectors
  • Support the team with actions and technical issues
  • Monitoring and procurement of supplies for the flavours team
  • Computer input of production information into the internal system
  • Good hygiene and housekeeping practices
  • Assist with all other flavour related tasks
  • Weighing of chemical ingredients used in the manufacture of flavour standards and assisting with the overall production of finished capsules and capsulets for multiple food and beverage sectors e.g.
  • Cleaning and storage of capsule fillers – including maintenance, review and servicing contracts
  • Maintain and update procedures within the flavours team
  • Work as part of the flavours team on a variety of production, testing, formulation, dispensing and packaging tasks
  • Entry of data for certified flavour standard pots onto our internal software systems
  • Organization of roller racking and stock
  • Adherence to ISO9001:2015 and ISO17025:2017 and contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of these procedures

What we’re looking for

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a laboratory environment
  • Degree educated in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science or related industries

Desired:

  • Experience in food, beverage or pharmaceutical-related industry advantageous
  • Familiarity with ISO, GMP & Quality standards advantageous
