Junior AutoCAD Technician
Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering applies the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design and analysis of mechanical and electrical systems. Building services engineering refers to the implementation of the engineering for the internal environment and environmental impact of a building. Everything inside a building which makes it safe and comfortable to be in, comes under the title of ‘Building services’. A building must do what it was designed to do - not just provide shelter but also be an environment where people can live, work and achieve. Building services are what makes a building come to life.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic junior member to begin their career in Building Services Engineering with MKP Consultants. MKP are recruiting two juniors to help strengthen our CAD team to work on a multitude of interesting and challenging building projects. This is a brilliant platform to build a fantastic career underpinned by training, development and full exposure to the role of a building services CAD technician.
MKP Consultants is a forward thinking firm of consulting engineers that was founded in 1999. MKP design multi-million pound mechanical and electrical systems for all types of buildings, including laboratories, large residential, healthcare, universities, commercial and industrial buildings. Our team combines a passion for engineering with a practical, pragmatic approach to deliver high quality and efficient solutions. We are focused on supplying Low Energy and sustainable solutions creating a better environment using the latest software and hardware.
MKP is based between Winchester and Basingstoke and we are a very successful practice that specialises in producing extremely detailed mechanical and electrical designs. We currently utilise VR and AR in our designs and we fully understand the need for Revit to be at the forefront of our designs.
The position requires as a minimum, the use of AutoCAD LT 2020 (or newer); though experience and competence in Revit, or other 3D software would be a significant advantage. Candidates should also have good numeracy and computer skills, be self-motivated, diligent and have the ability to work as part of a dedicated team.
The ideal applicant should be confident, have good communication skills, be presentable and have excellent time management, being local is also advantageous. In addition, be a good team player, resourceful, ambitious and committed to forwarding their career.
Position Requirements:
- Excellent time management
- A proficient level of IT skills
- Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D
- 3D Modelling capability & understanding would be beneficial
- Good technical drawing skills
- Within 45 mins travel of Micheldever / Winchester
