We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Merchandiser, Collection in our London office.
Department Overview:
The Michael Kors Collection team is looking to add a Junior Merchandiser. You will work within the Merchandising division, reporting to the Director, Collection. This unique cross-functional role requires someone dynamic and driven, who can create a bridge across teams to develop and drive the luxury Collection business. Ideal for someone who wants to challenge themselves to think and work outside of the box to promote the luxury element of the business.
Strong analytical skills, creative problem solving skills and a drive to excel in an entrepreneurial environment are a must. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills will also be key to your success.
What You’ll Do:
Merchandising:
- Point of contact for Collection retail business information (updates on retail markdown, price / collection changes, marketing styles / initiatives)
- Responsible for generating and analysing sales reports, including weekly sales, best-sellers and end of season recap (by classification, price point, style, color and size) to determine the needs of the business
- Support in developing annual strategic merchandising plan for EMEA: definition of the range plan and mix, retail price architecture, margin, production & sales forecast
- Carry out seasonal European Market research and competitive intelligence
- Contribute to post-market product analysis reports
- Communicate opportunities, including, but not limited to: strategies to drive sales, stock needs, and product needs
- Coordinate the development of merchandising guidelines and product knowledge information to the stores
- Propose and present suggested product capsules for pop-ups and clienteling events
- Coordinate stock moves to satisfy demand, working with relevant teams for quick turnaround
Buy/Planning:
- Responsible for calendar management and communicating key dates to relevant contacts while highlighting any discrepancies (order deadlines, delivery windows etc)
- Support with pre-Market buy planning, end of season analysis and assortment strategies
- Generate a suggested retail buy using sales data as a starting point for seasonal orders
- Contribute to Euro collection pricing (spreadsheet set up, identifying carry overs, seasonal pricing comparisons etc)
- Responsible for updating and communicating price changes to relevant EMEA contacts and submitting final pricelists to finance
- Assist in maintaining Open To Buys and reviewing assortments with management to align with US
- Manage order upload (coordinate with Customer Service) and order revisions, working closely with US Production Team
- Track and monitor buying process end to end (from order entry through to delivery)
- Prepare for and attend store visits, and marketing events where relevant, making recommendations to drive business
Operations:
- Act as a liaison with Logistics and Customer Service for on time shipments
- Generate and distribute the delivery forecasts per door, communicating changes and working closely with Production Team to ensure key products are prioritised for important sales moments or events
- Work with Visual teams to plan floor sets and changes by door based on deliveries and key investments
- Monitor delivery flow, stock and inventory for Collection
- Aid in establishing best practices and building processes appropriate for a new and growing business
- Participate in monthly business review meetings/calls
You’ll Need to Have:
- Minimum Bachelors Degree or similar
- Minimum 2 years experience in a Buying or Merchandising role
- Excellent communication/ interpersonal skills
- Advanced Excel Skills and overall computer literacy
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Creative problem solving skills and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
- Dynamic and accurate in approach
- Willingness to travel
