In this Junior Analyst job, you will be joining a small, well-established research and consulting firm that specialises in researching the retail investment market in the UK and Europe. The subjects of their research include the activities of financial advisers, wealth managers, asset managers and technology providers, with their clients subscribing to regular reports about subjects influencing the retail investment market. The market is flourishing but also rapidly changing. Their client portfolio boasts some of the largest financial institutions like Fidelity, JP Morgan and Hargreaves Lansdown. They are a small team who makes up part of a larger group so there's a lot of scope for progression within the team and also in the wider business. They are now looking for a curious and independent-minded Junior Analyst to join their intellectual team.
Job Description - Junior Analyst
In this Junior Analyst role, you will have invaluable client contact from the offset and your work will be published and seen by high-profile clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure in one of the hottest and most dynamic sectors of investment research, one that is constantly evolving due to the influences of digitalisation, politics and legislation. It will be your role to make sense of qualitative and quantitative research inputs, analysing averages and charts. The successful candidate will be confident in creating charts which visualise these findings, producing reports and presenting analysis back to the wider team or in client meetings.
Key responsibilities - Junior Analyst
In this Junior Analyst role, your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking research, development, and proofreading of content, including topic-specific reports, articles, member Q&A and newsletters
- Conducting qualitative research by talking to relevant industry experts about the challenges and opportunities facing their businesses
- Interacting confidently with senior and C-level executives – listening and thinking on your feet, understanding how to ask the right questions to uncover the most relevant information
- Analysing investment industry data in order to write compellingly about key developments
- Drawing insights from the research figures to see, for example, which kinds of firms are winning market share and how technology affects the ways businesses work
- Writing reports and presenting them to groups as part of the wider team
Job requirements - Junior Analyst
- BA or BSc degree in a finance-based discipline preferred
- A keen interest in the world of finance and investing
- Evidence of prior research work and writing from academic life, outside interests, or work experience
- Familiarity with Excel for creating graphs, lists, and pivot tables
- Numerate, with an eye for spotting trends in data
- Ability to source, process, and present quantitative and qualitative data on a range of key metrics with attention to detail
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- A natural curiosity, self-confidence and ambition for your career in financial services
- Familiarity with creating data visuals would be a big advantage
