BBC Radio Cornwall is the most listened to station in our market, with a strong following on social media. Our audience are passionate about where we live and the people who live here. Cornwall has a strong sense of identity, history, culture and its own language.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced newsreader and producer who can connect with our listeners and adapt to working on air and on our digital platforms to tell the real story of Cornwall. You will be able to make stories come alive through your writing, presentation and social media skills. You will be part of a wider news team finding and creating great local content.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will carry out the following duties;
- Present conversational and attention grabbing news bulletins for radio and smart speakers.
- Find and deliver stories that are relevant and engaging for audiences across radio, on demand audio and social media.
- Exercise editorial and legal judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
- Be organised, able to plan original ideas as well
- Work to briefs and regular deadlines.
To undertake this role successfully, you will need to demonstrate the following key criteria;
- Most importantly for this role, you will have a great voice and experience of live and on demand news reading.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
- You will have experience of finding high impact content and sharing it with a wide audience.
- You will be comfortable working as part of a team and on own initiative.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of the Cornwall area and its stories.
