JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX 5 Atlanta is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, passionate and creative I Team Reporter. The I-Team reporter gathers, prepares, and disseminates investigative news stories on the air, online and on social media.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Uses contacts and sources to develop investigative story ideas and works collaboratively with members of the investigative unit to prepare stories for broadcast and digital publication
Interviews subjects of stories in the field and gathers information for the purpose of producing packaged investigative news reports or long-form programs and generating other content for newscasts and digital platforms
Works with the Legal Department to review, edit and finalize scripts for investigative stories and programming
Presents stories live in studio and on remote locations assuming all responsibility for the final content and presentation
Researches and develops stories and story ideas for future use
Actively contributes to social media accounts on platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on behalf of the station
Requirements
Demonstrates skill in writing conversational broadcast copy incorporating appropriate visual elements under daily deadline pressure
Organizational skills
Demonstrates experience at enterprise reporting
Willing to work undercover and operate undercover video equipment
Learn the newsroom computer system post hire
Proficient in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Communicate clearly and deal effectively/politely with the public in person and over the telephone
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred. Minimum of three years of experience as a reporter for a commercial television station or other news organization. Previous investigative reporting experience preferred.
