Job description
You have substantial knowledge of the Toronto and southern Ontario social and lifestyle issues. You are familiar with the key players and organizations in your beat. You also keep up daily with what’s happening nationally and internationally so that you can quickly create relevant content for our audiences as events warrant. You are intellectually curious and have a keen, ongoing interest in a wide range of subjects.
You must be creative and accurate to properly inform our audiences, ensuring ongoing compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. You will be required to work closely with your fellow reporters and producers to share ideas and content. Solid command of French and a working knowledge of English are essential criteria for this role.
Please note this is a permanent full-time position. The regular schedule for the position is from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- University degree or equivalent.
- Three years’ related experience.
- Ability to produce relevant, inclusive, audience-focused stories that reflect social and cultural issues being discussed by the general public.
- Good knowledge of new technologies and social platforms.
- Superior writing skills.
- Interest in cross-platform media production.
- Ability to quickly react and respond to breaking stories.
- Substantial knowledge of and keen interest in social issues as well as news stories and artistic/cultural events important to the Greater Toronto Area.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and its Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Solid command of French and good knowledge of English, spoken and written.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure.
