Allstate operate a very flexible hybrid working policy that will allow you to design your working week in collaboration with your manager with a blend of remote and office working for NI based employees as well as condensed working patterns (4 day week/9 day fortnight). Employees based in GB will be employed on a permanent remote working contract.

Your role in the team
As part of Allstate Northern Irelands future growth plans, we are excited to offer this opportunity to talented individuals looking for a new challenge within Allstate's Transformative Growth area.
In this role, the Product Feature Software Engineer serves as a member of a product team. The role requires the successful candidates to practice and be the champion of Agile delivery utilizing Continuous Integration & Deployment practices.
This is a great opportunity to join Allstate's Product Management Ecosystem (PME) team and work on technology critical to core Transformative Growth initiatives.
Product Feature Software Engineers develop applications following 12-factor principles to build out products through continual enhancements using a full stack of software products; developing and implementing frontends (web or mobile), and backend services. In the role you will leverage test driven development, CI/CD, and Allstate developed tools and frameworks to ensure of the timely delivery of high-quality products.
The Product Feature Software Engineer will actively participate in the decision-making process of the team ensuring that the most appropriate technology and relevant design is chosen to meet user needs with maintainability and reusability, while working with other team members, creating an environment of continuous learning, and constantly challenging and stretching the knowledge of the team.
- Participates in iteration planning meetings ensuring that the team has a common understanding of each story and chores in a team’s backlog
- Leads and participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups
- Participates in retrospectives to gather feedback and derive actionable items to improve the team and the product
- Participates in executing the strategy, keeping the customer needs and wants in mind
- Serves as an expert on a specific business domain and demonstrates leadership and accountability on at least one technology stack
- Provides input into the architecture and design of the product; collaborating with the team in solving problems the right way
- Coaches more junior team members around different technologies
- Participates in knowledge sharing and contributes to the overall growth of the collective knowledge of the team.
So, what are the essential criteria to apply?
- All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
- A minimum of 1+years of developing and implementing systems at scale
We also have some desirable criteria
- Familiar with the following: Spring, Cloud, React, Mongo DB
- Continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) such as Jenkins
- Source Control Management: Git/GitHub
- Exposure to Test Driven Development
- Exposure to and knowledge of developing/consuming REST APIs
